City Schedule Changes for Juneteenth

June 4, 2025 – The schedules for City of Staunton offices and facilities will be modified in observance of Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19.

Trash Collection

Residential: Residential trash regularly scheduled for pickup on Thursday, June 19, will be collected on Wednesday, June 18.
Downtown Central Business District: CBD customers will receive trash collection on Wednesday, June 18, instead of Thursday, June 19, with normal pickup resuming Friday, June 20.

Recycling Center Hours 
The Recycling Center will be closed Thursday, June 19, and will reopen with regular hours on Friday, June 20.Juneteenth Schedules 2025

Library Hours
The Staunton Public Library will be closed Thursday, June 19, and will return to its normal schedule on Friday, June 20. The outdoor book drop will be open for returns, and digital books and other online resources are available 24/7 at www.StauntonLibrary.org.

Parks & Recreation
The main offices of Parks and Recreation, located at Montgomery Hall Park, will be closed on Thursday, June 19. Summer camps will be closed; however, pools at both Montgomery Hall Park and Gypsy Hill Park will be open regular hours. For additional information, visit www.staunton.va.us/pools.

Administrative Office Hours
The City of Staunton’s administrative offices will be closed Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Regular hours will resume on Friday, June 20.

Real Estate Taxes
The first installment of real estate taxes is due Friday, June 20, and can be paid at the Treasurer’s Office in City Hall, online, by mail, phone, or drop box. The Treasurer’s Office will be closed Thursday, June 19, and in-person payment will not be available on the holiday. More information on paying real estate taxes can be found on the city’s website at www.staunton.va.us/payment.

Boards & Commissions Meetings
Several boards and commissions that regularly meet on the third Thursday of each month have rescheduled or canceled their June meetings due to the Juneteenth holiday.

  • The Planning Commission Meeting has been moved to Wednesday, June 18, at 5:30 p.m.
  • The Comprehensive Plan Citizen Steering Committee Meeting has been moved to Wednesday, June 18, at 7 p.m.
  • The Library Advisory Board Meeting has been canceled for the month.
