SUMMARY:Staunton's West End Revitalization Meeting #3
DESCRIPTION:
*See specific guidance below regarding use of City facilities during COVID-19.

Thank you, residents, businesses and community partners, for participating in the West End Community survey!

Continuing our efforts to develop a strategy for revitalization of Staunton’s West End, a community meeting will be held to discuss the survey results and next steps. The survey was a collaborative effort between the West End Community and the City of Staunton to identify a shared vision for the neighborhood's future and develop a plan to achieve it. The momentum and the need for a neighborhood plan in West End is built on a number of factors — designation of the area as an Opportunity Zone, completion of a FEMA Flood Study, existing aging housing and infrastructure, and the City’s potential to receive an EPA brownfields grant in 2021, which all amount to an enormous opportunity to plan for West End’s future. This planning effort is being undertaken by the City to identify assets, needs, opportunities and obstacles, all with an intent to develop recommendations to improve livability in one of Staunton’s key neighborhoods. The result of this planning process will be a strategic revitalization plan, which will be developed over the coming months with direct community input. The final plan will include a roadmap and actionable steps toward improvements to enhance economic development opportunities and quality of life in West End.

All are welcome to learn more about the plan and specific opportunities to participate in this important initiative. City staff and our consultants will be available for questions and open discussion. Please join us in person or online!

If you plan to attend in person, please let us know by phone or email by April 23. Appropriate arrangements will be made for social distancing.

To access the meeting online, use this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqHLTDcsulg

The meeting will be recorded and posted on the City’s website for those not able to attend in person or online.

To confirm your attendance and for questions or more information, contact:

Billy Vaughn, Director
City of Staunton Community and Economic Development
Office: 540.332.3869
Email: vaughnwl@ci.staunton.va.us

*IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING USE OF CITY FACILITIES DURING COVID-19:

The following general guidelines are applicable for use of City facilities:

No one with a fever or symptoms of COVID-19 or known exposure to a COVID-19 case in the prior 14 days is permitted to enter facility.

Visitors are expected to maintain physical distancing at all times of at least six (6) feet from others.

Visitors will be expected to comply with Virginia’s Executive Order 63, which requires that all patrons aged 10 and over must wear a face covering that covers their mouth and nose when inside a local government building.

Participants are strongly encouraged to review the detailed use guidelines posted on the City website at https://www.ci.staunton.va.us/departments/parks-recreation before visiting facilities. Guidelines will also be posted at the facility.

Having trouble viewing this email? View on the website instead.

Change your eNotification preference.

Unsubscribe from all City of Staunton eNotifications.
