DESCRIPTION:<p>Mayor Oakes hereby calls for&nbsp;a special meeting of Staunton City Council. The meeting will be held on Thursday,<br>December 17, 2020, at 7:15 p.m., local time, in the Rita S. Wilson Council Chambers located on<br>the 1st floor at City Hall, 116 West Beverley Street. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct a<br>closed meeting for the purpose of discussing and interviewing candidates for the position of City<br>Attorney.<br>I request that the Clerk of Council provide notice of this memorandum in accordance with Chapter II,<br>Section 7, of the Staunton City Charter, post and otherwise widely publicize notice of this memorandum.<br>I also request that the Clerk of Council email a copy of this memorandum to all members of City<br>Council.<br><strong>HYBRID IN-PERSON ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS MEETING<br></strong>This meeting, although to be conducted in-person, will also be conducted by Zoom, with virtual<br>participation of certain members of City Council, given the catastrophic nature of the declared<br>emergency and disaster related to the COVID-19 outbreak, which as part of the total circumstances<br>makes it impracticable or unsafe to assemble in a single location. The meeting will be held consistent<br>with City Council Ordinances 2020-04 and 2020-24, which can be accessed online at:<br>www.staunton.va.us/cogord2020-04 and https://www.ci.staunton.va.us/home/showdocument?id=9758<br>respectively.<br>Because it is anticipated that the meeting will be limited to a closed meeting, no arrangements will be<br>made to stream the meeting on the City’s webpage or to broadcast the meeting on the City’s public<br>access channel. </p><h1>PUBLIC PARTICIPATION</h1><p>Since the meeting includes a closed meeting, there will be no opportunity for public comment.</p>
