DESCRIPTION:<p>Mayor Oakes has called a Special Meeting of City Council. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 7:30p.m., local time, in the Rita S. Wilson Council Chambers located on the 1st floor at City Hall, 116 West Beverley Street. The purpose of the meeting is to:</p><ul>    <li>conduct a work session to discuss the possible recruitment and appointment of an interim City Attorney; and</li>    <li>conduct a closed meeting for discussion of (a) possible acquisition of real property within the City of Staunton, (b) prospective candidates for appointment as interim City Attorney and (c) prospective candidates for appointment as City Attorney.</li></ul><p>Mayor Oakes stated "I request that the Clerk of Council provide notice of this memorandum in accordance with Chapter II, Section 7, of the Staunton City Charter, post and otherwise widely publicize notice of this memorandum. I also request that the Clerk of Council email a copy of this memorandum to all members of City Council."</p><h2>HYBRID IN-PERSON ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS MEETING</h2><p>This meeting, although to be conducted in-person, will also be conducted by Zoom, with virtual participation of certain members of City Council, given the catastrophic nature of the declared emergency and disaster related to the COVID-19 outbreak, which as part of the total circumstances makes it impracticable or unsafe to assemble in a single location. The meeting will be held consistent with City Council Ordinances 2020-04 and 2020-24, which can be accessed online at: <a href="http://www.staunton.va.us/cogord2020-04" target="_blank">www.staunton.va.us/cogord2020-04</a> and <a href="https://www.ci.staunton.va.us/home/showdocument?id=9758" target="_blank">https://www.ci.staunton.va.us/home/showdocument?id=9758</a> respectively.</p><h2>Public Participation</h2><p>Since the meeting includes a work session and closed meeting, there will be no opportunity for public comment. </p>
