Please take notice that Staunton City Council will conduct a public hearing concerning the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. The Second Amendment provides as follows: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., local time, in the Rita S. Wilson Council Chambers located on the 1st floor at City Hall, 116 West Beverley Street.
The audio of the meeting will be livestreamed on the city's website as well as on local cable channel 7.
The public may participate in the meeting either in-person or by telephone on the date of the meeting. Detailed instructions for participating by telephone are available at https://www.ci.staunton.va.us/government/city-council/access-city-council-meetings. In addition, through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020, the public may also communicate comments to City Council by (i) emailing the Clerk of Council at publiccomment@ci.staunton.va.us, or (ii) calling the Clerk of Council at 540.332.3810. Voice mail messages are acceptable. All comments received will become part of the public record of the public hearing. Public comment in-person or by telephone on the date of the meeting will be subject to a time limit imposed by Council.
