Mayor Stephen Claffey hereby calls a special meeting of Staunton City Council. The meeting will be held on Monday May 22, 2023, 4:00 p.m. local time, in the City Council Caucus Room on the 1st floor of City Hall, 116 West Beverley Street, for the purpose of:

• conducting a closed session (i) pursuant to Virginia Code Section 2.2-3711(A)(8) for consultation with legal counsel concerning contractual, litigation, and negotiation matters related to Staunton Circuit Court case CL21-500 and Virginia Code Section 2.2-3711 (A)(7) to consult with legal counsel pertaining to actual litigation in the matter of Staunton Circuit Court case CL21-500; and (ii) pursuant to Virginia Code Section 2.2-3711 (A)(3) for the acquisition of real property for the location of a court facility.

Mayor Claffey requests that the Clerk of Council provide notice of this memorandum in accordance with Chapter II, Section 7, of the Staunton City Charter, post and otherwise widely publicize notice of this memorandum. I also request that the Clerk of Council email a copy of this memorandum to all members and members-elect of City Council.
