Mayor Oakes hereby calls a special meeting of Staunton City Council. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 1:15 p.m. local time, in the City Council Caucus Room located on the 1^st floor at City Hall, 116 West Beverley Street. The purpose of the meeting is the following:  

1. To discuss and interview candidates for the position of Clerk of Council. The discussions and interviews will occur in a closed portion of the meeting, pursuant to Virginia Code § 2.2-3711(A)(1); and    
2. For consultation in a closed meeting with legal counsel for necessary legal-related advice and discussion regarding specific personnel matters involving the City Manager, pursuant to Virginia Code §§ 2.2-3711(A)(1) and 2.2-3711(A)(8).
3. For discussion regarding specific personnel matters involving the appointment of an Acting and/or Interim City Manager.

 he requests that the Interim Clerk of Council provide notice of this memorandum in accordance with Chapter II, Section 7, of the Staunton City Charter, post and otherwise widely publicize notice of this memorandum. She also requests that the Interim Clerk of Council email a copy of this memorandum to all members of City Council.

Arrangements for public access to the open portions of the meeting will be by streamed live broadcast on the City’s webpage at www.staunton.va.us/council and by television broadcast on Comcast Channel 7.

Since the meeting includes a closed meeting, there will be no opportunity for public comment.
